Lowe’s Faces Backlash After Pulling Ads From Muslim Reality Show

After pulling ads from a TLC reality show about American Muslims, Lowe’s Home Improvement is facing a backlash, reports the Associated Press.

The company pulled its ads from "All-American Muslim" after a conservative group, the Florida Family Association, protested the program, calling it "propaganda that riskily hides the Islamic agenda’s clear and present danger to American liberties and traditional values," the story says.

Now Lowe’s is facing the possibility of a boycott called by California state Sen. Ted Lieu, who characterized the move by Lowe’s as "un-American" and "naked religious bigotry," the story says.

Lowe’s issued a statement apologizing for making "some people very unhappy," the piece adds.

The TLC show follows five families in Dearborn, Mich., a suburb of Detroit with a big Arab-American and Muslim population, the story notes.

  1. This is amazing. How dumb can Lowe’s be? They might as well close their stores in the metro Detroit area. They will get no business. It is time for this religious bigotry, driven by small groups no one has ever heard of to end. How much do members of the Florida Family Association spend with Lowe’s each year that they carry that much influence with a major company.
