The first witness took the stand Thursday in Nicollette Sheridan’s wrongful termination case against ABC’s “Desperate Housewives,” as the actress recounted an alleged physical attack by show creator Marc Cherry, EW.com reports.

Sheridan testified that the trouble started after a funny line by her character, Edie Britt, was eliminated from the script and she asked Cherry about it.

According to the report, Sheridan testified that Cherry asked her, “What is it that you want?”

“Then, she added, ‘Mr. Cherry approached, he took his right hand, and he hit me upside the head. I was stunned; I couldn’t believe he just hit me.’ Sheridan then re-created her reaction. ‘You just hit me in the head,’ she said very loudly in the courtroom, while tearing up. ‘This is not okay, that is not okay,’” the story reports.

Sheridan reportedly testified that she was later comforted by co-star Neal McDonough, after which Cherry came to her trailer to apologize.

According to the report, Sheridan testified that Cherry said, “I’m on bended knee begging your forgiveness. I didn’t know what you wanted.”

The story reports: “She continued: ‘He wrapped his arms around me and apologized again.’ The line of questioning ended when her lawyer, Patrick Maloney, had Sheridan hit him in the head with the same force that Cherry allegedly did. She hesitated before agreeing, and then let him have it.”

Sheridan is suing for about $6 million in damages after being fired from the show, as previously reported.
