NBC will try to parlay its Summer Olympics coverage into early momentum on the fall season, USA Today reports. The network will boot up a couple of new shows immediately following Olympics broadcasts and will get a number of shows’ fall seasons started early, around the time the Olympics wrap up.

The new Matthew Perry comedy “Go On,” in which the former “Friends” regular plays a sportscaster who’s in group therapy, will have a sneak preview on Aug. 8 after the conclusion of that night’s Olympics action. Another new show, “Animal Practice,” starring Justin Kirk as a veterinarian, will get a preview following the Summer Games’ closing ceremony Aug. 12.

The following night the network has a new reality show, “Stars Earn Stripes,” queued up for a two-hour premiere, with “Grimm’s” season premiere also on tap.

Other premieres are set for September, but still ahead of the official start of the season: “The Voice” returns Sept. 10, while the new J.J. Abrams drama “Revolution” kicks off Sept. 17.

Exceptions to the early rollout are “30 Rock” and “Community,” both of which will have abbreviated final seasons. “30 Rock’s” last go-round launches Oct. 4, while “Community” makes its debut Oct. 19.
