Another top ABC executive is making the move to NBC, Deadline.com reports. Following the move two months ago by Jeff Bader, ABC’s top scheduler, his second-in-command, VP Steve Kern, will be joining Bader at NBC, the story reports.

“NBC has named Kern SVP, Program Planning & Scheduling, NBC Entertainment, reporting to Bader,” the story reports. “The move is not surprising as Bader and Kern are known to be very close having worked together for the past 12 years. In his role at NBC, Kern will be responsible for planning and directing the program scheduling function for NBC’s primetime scripted, Alternative and Late Night programming.”

Said Bader: “Steve’s experience in scheduling combined with his broad knowledge of the network television business will make him a valuable addition to the NBC team.”

The report adds: “During his tenure at ABC, Kern was a key member of the network’s scheduling team involved in major network program schedule moves, such as the launch of ABC’s successful Wednesday night comedy block in 2009 anchored by ‘Modern Family.’”

  1. Jeff and Steve are tremendously talented. NBC is to be commended for bringing them on board…an outstanding programming decision that might make NBC “must see” again.

  2. you guys a dummies wait till they start cutting your pay!!

  3. What the hell is your problem w/NBC?
Every news story that’s about it, even tangentially, brings you here to post some garbage that’s not even remotely related to the topic at hand, but IS a slam of some sort on NBC.
I’m not a huge fan of them, as only someone who used to work there can be, but I just don’t get what your particular beef is with them.
Please share with the rest of the class.
Did they run over your puppy? Tell you Santa Clause isn’t real?

  4. These guys are good. But they still need a few more good shows to schedule. That has been the real issue at NBC for a long time. Poor selection of new shows. Hopefully they can solve that.
