Amazon Takes a Step Into TV, Tweaks Plan to Put Pilots on the Web

Amazon is posting eight comedy pilots on its site, but the debut, which was slated for today (Thursday, April 18, 2013), was pushed back at the last minute, reports the New York Post.

The article doesn’t report when the pilots will be posted on Amazon.com, although a site called Shock Till You Drop reports that the pilot for "Zombieland" was pushed back until Friday "while some technical bugs are sorted out."

"Zombieland," based on the movie of the same name, is from Sony. One of the other pilots is "Alpha House," featuring John Goodman and directed by Adam Bernstein of "Breaking Bad."

The Amazon model will include offering the pilots for free, while viewers who want to watch full seasons will have to sign up for Amazon Prime for $79 per year, the Post reports.

"The production quality had to be really high; we have top people and terrific casts," Amazon Studios director Roy Price told the Post.
