2013 Primetime Emmy Nominations Announced. Netflix Gets Nods for ‘House of Cards’ and ‘Arrested Development’; Commercial Broadcasters Snubbed Again in Outstanding Drama Category — We Have the Complete List of Nominees

With 14 Primetime Emmy nominations, Netflix has made TV history. Never before has a network that is neither primarily a broadcast or cable network broken through with Primetime Emmy nominations in the major categories.

Furthermore, for the second year in a row, the major commercial broadcast networks — ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC — have been snubbed in the Outstanding Drama category.

In Outstanding Drama the nominees are: “Breaking Bad,” “Downton Abbey,” “Game of Thrones,” “Homeland,” Netflix’s “House of Cards” and “Mad Men.”

For Outstanding Comedy the nominees are: “The Big Bang Theory,” “Girls,” “Louie,” “Modern Family,” “30 Rock” and “Veep.”

The nominees for Best Actress in a Drama series are: Vera Farmiga, (“Bates Motel”); Michele Dockery (“Downton Abbey”); Claire Danes (“Homeland”); Robin Wright (“House of Cards”); Connie Britton (“Mad Men”); and Kerry Washington (“Scandal”).

The nominees for Best Actor in a Drama series are: Bryan Cranston (“Breaking Bad”); Hugh Bonneville (“Donwnton Abbey”); Damian Lewis (“Homeland”); Kevin Spacey (“House of Cards”); Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”); and Jeff Daniels (“Newsroom”).

For Best Actress in a Comedy series the nominees are: Laura Dern (“Enlightened”); Lena Dunham (“Girls”); Edie Falco (“Nurse Jackie”); Amy Poehler (“Parks and Recreation”); Tina Fey (“30 Rock”); and Julia-Louis Dreyfus (“Veep”).

For Best Actor in a Comedy series, the nominees are Jason Bateman (“Arrested Development”); Jim Parsons (“The Big Bang Theory”); Matt LeBlanc (“Episodes”); Don Cheadle (“House of Lies”); Louis C.K. (“Louie”); and Alec Baldwin (“30 Rock”).

HBO received by far the most nominations of any network with a total of 108. Among the broadcast networks, CBS and NBC tied with 53 nominations apiece, followed by ABC with 45. Pay-cable channel Showtime received 31 nods, while basic-cable channels FX and AMC each had 26. PBS received 25 nods and Fox had 19.

Netflix’s 14 bids put the streaming site ahead of Lifetime, with 12 nominations, while History and Sundance Channel racked up 10 nods apiece.
