After months of rumors, it is now official: AMC’s acclaimed drama series "Breaking Bad" will have a spinoff. The Los Angeles Times reports that the new show, "Better Call Saul," has received a green light — just as "Breaking Bad" is in its endgame.
The new show will focus on not-always-ethical attorney Saul Goodman.
"’Better Call Saul’ will feature Bob Odenkirk as Goodman in a one-hour series that is being positioned as a prequel to ‘Breaking Bad,’ focusing on Goodman before he became the lawyer for chemistry-teacher-turned-criminal Walter White," the Times reports. "AMC and Sony Pictures Television announced the deal in a joint statement."
The announcement did not offer additional details.
"Vince Gilligan, who is the creator of ‘Breaking Bad,’ has said in several interviews that he wanted to base a show around Goodman after ‘Breaking Bad’ ended its run," the report notes.
