Jon Hamm, the star of the AMC drama series "Mad Men," will undergo surgery next week. TVGuide.com reports that the actor faces what the report describes as a "routine outpatient procedure" to remove a polyp from his throat.

Hamm was up for outstanding actor in a drama series at Sunday’s Emmy Awards, but lost out to Jeff Daniels of HBO’s "The Newsroom."

The first half of the final season of "Mad Men" will debut next year.
