A TV and feature film actor best known for his role on FX’s “The Shield” was arrested early today in connection with the shooting death of his wife, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Michael Jace "confessed to shooting his wife to death Monday night at their home in Hyde Park, law enforcement sources told The Times," the piece reports.

Jace was detained Monday night after his wife was found dead with gunshot wounds, reports CBS Los Angeles. The actor is also known for TNT’s “Southland” and for the 2009 Russell Crowe feature "State of Play."

His wife was found dead at about 8:30 p.m., after police were called to a home in the Hyde Park area of Los Angeles, The Hollywood Reporter notes.

"Los Angeles police said in a statement that the motive for the shooting 'is believed to be domestic violence.' Neighbors reported hearing the couple arguing just before the shots rang out, KNBC-TV reported," the Times story notes.

Jace reportedly called the police himself, after allegedly shooting his wife, 40, TMZ.com reports.

His two children reportedly witnessed the crime, and have been taken to a family member’s home, the TMZ story adds.
