Close-up: Paul McGuire

Paul McGuire has been formally announced as senior vice president of network communications for The WB network. Mr. McGuire, who had been senior vice president of media relations for competitor UPN since 1998, will take over as The WB’s PR point man, replacing Brad Turell, who was promoted to executive vice president of corporate communications for TBS Inc. last month. Mr. McGuire reports to Mr. Turell. In 1987, Mr. Turell hired Mr. McGuire to launch the photography department at Fox Broadcasting Co. After that, Mr. McGuire was at NBC as vice president of prime-time publicity, directing promotional efforts for “ER,” “Friends,” “Homicide: Life on the Street,” “Law & Order” and “Seinfeld.”
