What is your favorite new midseason television show?
“`First Years’ on NBC, `Some of My Best Friends’ on CBS-which is sort of `Will & Grace’ with two men-and `The Job’ [on ABC]; I really love the gritty comedy of Denis Leary’s police show. It’s a welcome return to the dramedy.”
Bob Curtright, television critic, The Wichita (Kan.) Eagle
“So far I think `The Job’ is the best of this crop of midseason replacements by a factor of light years-just a terrific performance by Denis Leary. Is it going to work for the long term? I don’t know. But it sure is working for the short term.”
David Glasier, television critic, The News-Herald, Willoughby, Ohio
“`The Job.’ I think it’s `reality TV.’ People have days like that-things like that happen. And as obnoxious as [Denis Leary] seems, he’s a very endearing character. [Also] `The Chris Isaak Show’ [on Showtime]. … It’s funny without trying to be funny.”
