Sun, BBC Technologies in IP partnership
Sun Microsystems and BBC Technologies announced a business arrangement to help media and enterprise companies leverage their digital and legacy assets more effectively. The joint solution provides companies-including broadcasters, broadband portals and 3G wireless operators-with high-bandwidth IP-based services.
TVTonic flows from Wavexpress
Integrated digital TV services provider Wavexpress last week debuted its TVTonic Broadcast Platform, which it says gives a secure foundation for enhanced, interactive and datacasting, combining all three media types on a PC screen. The package has a TVTonic TV/Web browser software plug-in, a tuner card and a rights management system.
Radio Free Virgin inks with ZapMedia
Radio Free Virgin digital radio broadcast company signed a distribution deal with convergence technology provider ZapMedia to stream Radio Free Virgin’s top channels of programming through ZapMedia’s Entertainment Service. Radio Free Virgin will extend its broadcast of music programming off the PC and into the living room through Harmon Kardon’s DMC100.
