Pace selling set-tops to Time Warner
Set-top box manufacturer Pace is planning to soon ship an order of its 510 line of low-end set-top boxes to Time Warner Cable, said Graham Williams, Pace vice president of technology. Mr. Williams said that the 510 set-tops for Time Warner will be similar to Scientific-Atlanta’s Explorer 2100 set-top model. He said Pace will also soon ship a more advanced line of digital cable set-tops to Comcast Corp. However, Mr. Williams would not comment on the specific timing of the hardware deployments.
Gateway, Comcast in broadband agreement
Multiple system operator Comcast Corp. and personal computer vendor Gateway have signed a new broadband sales agreement. Under the accord, the companies will market cable modem hardware and a high-speed Internet service at Gateway stores. Customers who buy either Gateway computing products or Comcast-branded cable modems will be offered high-speed Internet access for $39.95 per month after an introductory period, according to Comcast and Gateway. Installation, equipment and support are included in the package, the companies said.
