Title: CEO of sofTV.net, an Ottawa-based company that offers software for building streaming video Web pages with synchronized HTML content for corporate and broadcast applications.
Background: Prior to co-founding sofTV.net in 1998, Ms. Gantous was president of inGenius People, a high-tech recruiting and consulting firm.
Software benefits: “Our software is the only solution that makes it extremely easy to build streaming video Web pages. People can build a Web page with video and synchronized PowerPoint slides in less than five minutes.”
A new audience: “Our first customers were large broadcasters. But since [the National Association of Broadcasters conference] this year, we’ve had tremendous demand among Fortune 1000 companies for our sofTV.PresenterLive software. Companies like Ford, Cisco and McDonald’s have all bought our software. They’re all using it for live or on-demand corporate meetings and e-learning.”
Key partnerships: “Pinnacle Systems is bundling our sofTV .PresenterLive software with their StreamGenie, which is a streaming studio in a box. Pinnacle looked at all the products on the market, and they chose us as the best product. It’s been a big stamp of approval of the entire video industry and streaming industry on our software and on our company. … We’re also entering a major partnership with RealNetworks … that is going to put us in a very unique position.”
The future: “The corporate market is really going to expand in the next two years. Live presentations are going to continue to be extremely important, and on-demand applications are really going to grow because it’s such a cost-effective way of carrying out training and good support to your customers. This market is not hampered by wondering how to make money off this stuff. It’s all driven by cost savings. And cost savings is not going to go away as a corporate motivator in the next two years.”
