The new year will ring in a new advertising sales team at Game Show Network, which until now was represented by Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Columbia TriStar Advertising Sales.
Michael Sakin has been named senior vice president of advertising sales of Game Show Network, and he will head the yet-to-be-hired 20- to 25-person group, the first in-house sales force in the network’s seven-year history.
The in-house sales staff will be approximately the same size as Columbia TriStar’s staff, which repped syndication and DirecTV in addition to GSN.
GSN is now available in 40 million households. “We’ve reached a point where we can only maximize our revenues by having a team that is 100 percent dedicated,” said Rich Cronin, GSN’s president and CEO. “We’ll have one person in Los Angeles, with an assistant … We’ll have maybe three people with assistants in Chicago. In New York we’ll have a vice president and four [account executives].”
GSN is jointly owned and operated by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Liberty Digital. Mr. Sakin joins GSN from Fox Cable Networks.
