Time Warner taps Concurrent video-on-demand
Time Warner Cable chose Concurrent Computer Corp. to provide video-on-demand technology for its Central Florida Division. The division bought 73 MediaHawk Model 2000 Video Servers for VOD services. TWC Central Florida uses Scientfic-Atlanta and Pioneer set-top boxes and the Pioneer Passport electronic program guide. The cable operator will also use Concurrent’s Broadband VOD Business Management System for billing and subscription services.
Weather.com partners with RealNetworks
Weather.com signed on as the exclusive weather content partner for RealNetworks’ RealOne media browser. The deal also lets Weather.com offer targeted advertising. Advertisers can buy an embedded banner ad within the RealOne media browser, a five- to 10-second streamed commercial at the beginning of each requested weathercast or a 30-second spot at the end of each videocast.
