* Due to an error by Nielsen Media Research, the Basic Cable Ratings chart for the week of Dec. 31, 2001 to Jan. 6, 2002, (EM, Jan. 14) omitted HGTV’s Rose Parade coverage (Tuesday, Jan. 1, at 11 a.m.), which ranked seventh for the week.
* In “NBC to stretch its signal” (EM, Jan. 21), CBS-owned KPIX-TV averaged an 8.0 rating and was up 27 percent to a 14 share vs. last year, according to Nielsen data for Jan. 7 to17, 2002. KNTV, the station NBC has agreed to acquire from Granite Broadcasting, averaged a 7.9 rating and was down 13 percent to a 13 share compared with NBC’s performance on KRON-TV the year before. ABC-owned KGO-TV averaged a 6.1 rating and was down 23 percent to a 10 share. Fox on Cox-owned KTVU-TV averaged a 4.9 rating and was down 11 percent to an 8 share. Newly independent Young-owned KRON averaged a 3.2 rating and was down 66 percent to a 5 share.
