NBA.com, Turner hook up for fantasy game
NBA.com will host its first live fantasy basketball game, “NBA Fantasy Live on TBS and TNT.” The interactive game, which runs from Jan. 8 to April 17, will be telecast live on TBS and TNT every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Fans can log on to NBA.com and register to play the night of a telecast. Each fan chooses a roster of five players from each team and chooses one player to participate in each quarter of the game and overtime. The top five fantasy players each night win prizes, and all players have a chance to win three different grand prizes.
NBC launches virtual channel on DirecTV
NBC, DirecTV and Wink Communications announced plans to create the NBC Virtual Channel, an interactive channel available only on DirecTV. The channel, which will be called NBCi, will feature news, business news and interactive commerce from MSNBC, CNBC and ShopNBC.
Latest TiVo recorder hits 60-hour mark
TiVo introduced its next-generation personal video recorder, a 60-hour version of the TiVo Series2 DVR, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week. Consumers can buy the new product starting in February for a price of $399. The recorder is fitted with two USB expansion ports to connect other digital devices that will enable digital music, digital photos, broadband video-on-demand and video party games.
