Intertainer closes $15 million in funding
Intertainer, an entertainment-on-demand broadband service, secured the first closing of a Series E round of funding last week. The company has received $15 million in total additional funds from Thomson Consumer Electronics and Microsoft Corp. Thomson, a new equity partner for Intertainer, leads this round, while Microsoft is increasing its existing investment in the company. Intertainer recently expanded its service into the top 35 broadband markets in the country, making it the first widely deployed video-on-demand service featuring premium Hollywood content. In addition, Intertainer has expanded its digital cable deployments with Comcast and Adelphia Communications. Intertainer’s partners include Universal Pictures, Warner Bros., DreamWorks SKG, NBC, Discovery Channel, ESPN and PBS.
Carat acquires Lot21, Vizium
Carat Interactive, one of the largest interactive advertising agencies in the world, announced that it has acquired San Francisco-based Lot21 and Framingham, Mass.-based Vizium. The acquisition adds digital media services, emerging technology and electronic customer relationship management service solutions to Carat Interactive’s interactive media services practices.
