Charter adding Motorola personal video box
Charter Communications plans to roll out a companion set-top box this fall that will sit on top of existing Motorola boxes and will enable personal video recorder functionality. The MSO also said next year it will deploy a stand-alone set-top box with integrated PVR functionality. Both are made by Motorola and have been developed by Charter, Digeo and Motorola.
Users like Starz Encore’s SVOD, study finds
Starz Encore said 86 percent of its subscription video-on-demand users say the product improves their satisfaction with their cable service, according to research from the company. The study also showed that 74 percent said they will rent fewer movies and 83 percent are more likely to watch Starz Super Pak movies, on Starz Encore’s digital movie channels, as a result of having the SVOD service.
Interactive TV industry forms trade group
Several leaders of the interactive TV industry from Canal Plus, Liberate, OpenTV, Wink, WorldGate and other ITV companies have joined to create a trade association. The Interactive Television Alliance is designed to promote interactive television deployment through public awareness campaigns and outreach efforts, including partnerships with advertisers.
