PVR adoption rate rises
Personal video recorder adoption is ramping up and should grow to 1.8 million by the end of this year and 19.1 million by the end of 2006, according to a new forecast from the Yankee Group. The 2006 forecast has been revised up from 18.6 million. The growth rate should increase slightly because PVRs are being integrated more quickly than expected into consumer devices. In a separate study, Forrester Research predicts that 29 percent of all TV watched by 2007 will be watched on the viewer’s schedule, either through on-demand services or a PVR. On-demand revenues and PVR services will reach $6 billion for 2007, up from $115 million last year, according to Forrester.
