A number of leaders from top multiple cable system operators, including Brian Roberts and Glenn Britt, will meet with executives of the consumer electronics industry early next month to see if both sides can devise ways to make products more consumer-friendly.
The occasion of the meetings is the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas Jan. 9 to 12.
Mr. Roberts is leading the cable contingent under the auspices of the executive committee of CableLabs, of which he is chairman. Mr. Roberts is also president of Comcast Cable, the nation’s largest multiple system operator.
In addition to Mr. Roberts and Mr. Britt, who is chairman and CEO of Time Warner Cable, the other members of the CableLabs contingent include Joe Collins, chairman and CEO of AOL Time Warner Interactive; Jim Robbins, president and CEO of Cox Communications; and Carl Vogel, president and CEO of Charter Communications.
“We found great value in the business meetings that were conducted last year. With increasing interest from both cable and the CE industry in high-definition television and advanced digital services, this year’s show promises to be even better,” CableLabs President and CEO Dr. Richard Green said in a statement.
