Close up: Neal Kirsch

Discovery Networks has named Neal Kirsch chief financial officer. Mr. Kirsch recently served as chief financial officer for Discovery Networks International. He will oversee all financial management activities, including business planning, accounting operations and financial analysis for Discovery Networks U.S., working on such key joint ventures as the BBC, Comcast and the New York Times Co. Before acting as CFO for Discovery International Mr. Kirsch was VP and controller of the division. He provided the financial management as the division grew from 20 million subscribers to 350 million subscribers. He joined the company in 1994 as a manager of international networks, where he was an integral part of Discovery’s expansion into foreign markets. Mr. Kirsch has also worked for the World Bank in Washington as a research analyst.
