Best Damn Sports Emmys set
The 24th annual Sports Emmy Awards will be handed out at the Marriott Marquis in New York Monday, April 21, and portions of the gala will appear Sunday, April 27, on Fox Sports Net’s The Best Damn Sports Show, Period. The telecast marks the first time in 12 years the awards show will be televised. The late Roone Arledge will posthumously receive the National Television Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in Sports. A guide to the event is featured in this week’s TelevisionWeek.
Many Ripa returns
Kelly Ripa will return to her seat next to Regis Philbin on Buena Vista Television’s Live With Regis and Kelly Mon., April 21, following nearly two months of maternity leave. The host-actress is expected to introduce the new addition to her family, Joaquin Consuelos, to Live viewers Thurs., April 24, according to on-air comments. The baby boy, born Feb. 24, is Ms. Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos’ third child.
NATPE to name new CEO
The National Association of Television Program Executives is expected to announce a successor to President and CEO Bruce Johansen Wednesday, April 23, after narrowing the field of candidates to five last week.
