The premise that draws romantically minded viewers to ABC’s The Bachelor is that the trail of roses will eventually lead to a real engagement and marriage. However, that isn’t what is on the mind of Bob Guiney, recently tapped as the next Bachelor, who will get to meet and date 25 single women. “I think the shows before have overpromised,” Mr. Guiney said during ABC’s upfront party at Cipriani’s in Manhattan last week. “I’m not promising anything. I’m not promising I’ll get married.”
Then why is he doing it? For the experience, he explained. It’s a great opportunity to meet people so he will just see what happens. As for the role reversal, he insisted it will be just as hard to be the rejector as the rejectee at rose ceremonies: “I’m not good at that at all.”
