Jeremy Trimble, a 27-year-old grad student at the California School of Professional Psychology, went to Hollywood to see Matrix Reloaded last weekend, but it was sold out. His disappointment faded minutes later when he was invited to attend the Get Schooled Tour event being put on in the nearby Hollywood & Highland complex by the Game Show Network. It turned out to be his lucky day after Mr. Trimble was chosen as a contestant in a live game show competition hosted by Todd Newton (Whammy), and won the top prize of $10,000 in school tuition (deposited in a 529 College Savings Plan). A GSN spokesperson said Jeremy told her he was thrilled and desperately needed the money: “He couldn’t believe that he won. He just about fainted. Really!”
This was the 13th of 14 stops in a 14-city tour, and there is also an Internet winner. The final stop will be May 31 at the King of Prussia Mall in Philadelphia, home of Comcast, one of the sponsors. In all, the promotion will have given away $150,000 in college tuition, along with numerous other prizes.
