A Healthy View
ABC’s daytime hit “The View” spins off an hour-long live prime-time special Monday designed to both entertain and inform. It will be a quiz on health called “The View: His & Her Body Test.” Viewers will be able to influence the ladies’ conversation and test their health knowledge via the Internet and ABC.com, via digital set-top boxes and remote control or via their mobile phones. “Nobody knows as much as they think they do,” said Rick Mandler, VP and GM of enhanced TV for the Walt Disney Internet Group. Only those in the Eastern and Central time zones will actually see the show live and be able to vote.
Awards Mail Call
The deadline for members of the various branches of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to return their first-round nominating ballots to Ernst & Young is Friday. The nominations will be revealed during the pre-dawn hours July 17, with the winners to be revealed Sept. 13 during the Creative Arts Awards Banquet and Sept. 21 during the show from the Shrine Auditorium in L.A., which will be televised this year by Fox.
Back Office Is Back
“The Office” is a cult hit British “mockumentary” series about the sales team at a paper supply company, managed by a smug narcissist, where very little gets done but some very funny moments regularly pop up. From Monday through Saturday BBC America is repeating all six half-hours from the first season, with three episodes in rotation each evening beginning at 10 p.m. (ET). A second season is planned by co-writers and producers Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant as is an American version.
