Take This Job and Televise It

With U.S. unemployment at the highest level in years, the next big reality show could be “Human Resources,” based on a smash hit in Argentina. Prospective employers-usually small businesses-hand over the job-selection process to the show, which lets a nationwide television audience choose between two qualified prescreened contestants through telephone voting. The winner gets a one-year contract with full benefits, while the runnerup is given a free six-month family medical plan. U.S. rights were acquired by former Odyssey Network and Telepictures executive Alan Perris, who is developing an American version with Telepictures, for either syndication or a cable channel. Both Mr. Perris and Telepictures declined comment.
