Close-up: Chuck Saftler

FX Networks has promoted Chuck Saftler to general manager of the Fox Movie Channel, adding to his current title of senior VP of programming and acquisitions. As general manager, Mr. Saftler will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the network, including programming, scheduling and business transactions. He also will work closely with the affiliate sales division of the Fox Cable Networks Group to increase the network’s subscriber base. Mr. Saftler will continue his VP duties at FX, which include oversight of program operations and scheduling as well as the engineering of deals to acquire off-network theatricals and series. He is the network liaison for production and scheduling issues relating to NASCAR. Mr. Saftler joined FX Networks as director of scheduling and was part of the original launch team of FX and Fox Movie Channel. He helped acquire such series as “That ’70s Show” and “Malcolm in the Middle.”
