Martha Stewart’s exotic eggshell-inspired paint palettes pale in comparison with the 120 or more quirky colors inspired by six Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. programs that made their debut in select Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouses this summer. “The colors stay true to the shows,” said Sherice Guillory, Nickelodeon’s VP of home, gift and packaged goods. She said the new lines, which include character wall appliques kids can handle, are “a low-cost way for parents to let kids make their rooms their own.” “The paint is extremely popular so far,” said a Lowe’s spokeswoman, who was unable to give sales figures. The most popular is “SpongeBob SquarePants.” And the Top 10 Nick colors? The best-seller is Octopus Blue (in the “Oswald” paint group), followed by Thinking Chair Pink (“Blue’s Clues”), Ingenious Green (“Jimmy Neutron”), Rugrats Red (’nuff said), Bikini Bottom Blue (“SpongeBob”), Hola Indigo (“Dora the Explorer”), Splish Splash Cyan (“Blue’s”), Pawprint Blue (“Blue’s”), Hokey Pokey Pink (“Blue’s”), and last but not least, Atomic Vomit Green (“Jimmy”). Ms. Guillory’s favorite is Spilt Milk.
