The 2003 Golden Boot Awards on Saturday in Beverly Hills celebrate 100 years of Westerns in TV and the movies. The annual event is presented by the Motion Picture & Television Fund, which uses proceeds for its health care and social programs. This year’s honorees include Tommy Lee Jones, Graham Greene, Kris Kristofferson and the Sons of the Pioneers, who also will perform. Presenters include Lee Majors, Herb Jeffries, Angie Dickinson and Dale Robertson.
Kid Stuff
Kids Day 2003 will be celebrated Tuesday in Beverly Hills by the Hollywood Radio and Television Society with a preview of this fall’s children’s programming for TV executives and their children. The hosts are Candace Bailey and Brent Popolizo of Nickelodeon’s “U-Pick Live.” The musical performance will be by 2003 “Star Search” winner Jake Simpson. Participating companies include ABC Family, ABC Kids, Cartoon Network, CBS (Nick on CBS), Disney Channel, HBO Family, Kids’ WB!, NBC (Discovery Kids on NBC), Nickelodeon and PBS.

Registration kicks off this week for The Western Show, the largest cable TV trade show on the West Coast. The 36th annual show, which takes place Dec. 2-5 in Anaheim, Calif., will feature the latest in programming and technology. About 240 exhibitors and sponsors greeted more than 10,000 attendees last year. It’s presented by the California Cable & Telecommunications Association.
