The WB’s “All About the Andersons” has had trouble keeping a doctor in the house. The family sitcom, produced by Warner Bros., stars Anthony Anderson as a struggling actor who returns to his parents’ home to live with his 8-year-old son. The pilot featured actor Paul Bartholomew as a medical student who was renting a room in the house from Mr. Anderson’s parents. However, producers decided he wasn’t quite right and recast the part in early August with Kal Penn, who co-starred with Mr. Anderson in “Malibu’s Most Wanted.” Now Mr. Penn also is history, and the producers think they have a new Rx for success: Aimee Garcia, already cast as the neighbor next door, has switched gears. Her character will be a medical student renting a room in the family abode. The change, insiders say, came about because the network and producers were high on Ms. Garcia, who starred in last year’s WB sitcom “Greetings From Tucson,” and wanted to find a more organic way to put her in the house. Warner Bros. is reshooting the scenes affected by the changes. Word is producers are still looking to cast a male friend for Mr. Anderson’s character on the show.
