When Jerry Springer spent about $1 million considering a run for a U.S. Senate seat from Ohio earlier this year, polls showed he had a very high negative factor due to his outrageous TV talk show. He subsequently dropped out of the race. Late last week, Mr. Springer, 59, a former mayor of Cincinnati, told a student group in Akron, Ohio, he is open to running for governor of Ohio in 2006 as a Democrat. If he runs, he said, he would quit his talk show, which he described as the “silliest show ever.”
