Lafayette Joins TVWeek

Jon Lafayette has joined TelevisionWeek as senior editor, based in New York.
The hiring marks a homecoming for Mr. Lafayette, who previously spent eight years at Electronic Media (now TelevisionWeek). In 2000 he left EM to become executive editor of Cable World.
Mr. Lafayette will cover all aspects of advertising as it relates to television, as well as cable programming, multiple cable system operators and TV sports.
“Nothing is more fun than writing about television,” Mr. Lafayette said, “and TVWeek is one of the best places I could do it.”
“This is a tremendous addition to our team,” Editor Alex Ben Block said. “Jon brings with him a wealth of experience, great industry connections and real knowledge of the inner workings of the TV business.”
Mr. Lafayette, who also has been a reporter for Advertising Age, began his career at the New York Post, first as a copy boy and then as a business reporter and advertising columnist.
