On his hit TGIF comedy on ABC, “George Lopez,” comedian George Lopez plays an assembly line worker who has been promoted to manager of an airplane parts factory. In real life, Mr. Lopez is known for promoting a number of worthy causes. Last week the rubber-faced, bug-eyed comedian hosted a benefit for the Latino Theater Co. at The Doolittle Theater in L.A., where he greeted Lupe Ontiveros, who played the grandmother on The WB’s “Greetings From Tucson” and starred in the 2002 indie movie “Real Women Have Curves.”
