Where do you turn for urgent health-care information? Why, to your friendly neighborhood cable network, of course-or so suggests Discovery Communications. Last week the company announced a new project called Discovery Hospital, where health-care facilities can license a 5,000-page medical information database for use on their Web sites. (Cost? They’re not saying.) So far, only one hospital-Upson Regional Medical Center in Thurston, Ga.-has signed up. Bill Allman, senior VP of Discovery Interactive Media, said the service is good for what ails you: “We’re rated as one of the top 10 brands for quality in the world, which is both a great attribute and a great responsibility that we take very seriously,” he said. “People find high-quality content on Discovery Health. It’s a television quality and accuracy oasis. Now we’re offering the same thing on the Web.”
