Paramount, according to sources, is hoping television networks turn up the volume when bidding this week for a trio of films, most prominently “School of Rock,” the Jack Black comedy that has become a surprise hit, with a box office gross already over $64 million. The selection of titles also includes two films that did not perform as well in theaters: “Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star,” and “The Fighting Temptations.” Because “School” is relatively family-friendly, a broad cross-section of networks-broadcast and cable-are expected to bid for at least a portion of the broadcast window. We hear the winning bidder may pony up as much as $30 million for all three, but Paramount declined comment. Meanwhile, as long as class is in session, Miramax has begun talking to networks about its hit “Scary Movie III.”
