‘Tis the season to sell and Celebrate

It’s that time of year again-for snowmen, Christmas carols and, of course, special stunts to promote syndicated fare in advance of the NATPE convention. In that spirit, Reba McEntire, a country music superstar and the star of a hit sitcom on The WB, performed last week before a gathering of station execs in New York. “Reba” debuted in 2001 and will be available in off-net syndication in fall 2005. About 35 potential buyers gathered at Park Avenue Cafe, where they were treated to about a half-dozen Christmas carols. One of those was a duet of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” by Ms. McEntire and Howard Levinsohn, general sales manager of Tribune-owned WPIX-TV. Twentieth Television, which is distributing “Reba” in syndication, hosted the event. “Reba” is produced by 20th Century Fox Television.
