As the Western Show ambles into the sunset with its final conference this week, here are some of the must-see events at the convention center and beyond:
Tuesday, Dec. 2
CTAM Pre-Western Show Luncheon: noon-3 p.m.
Staged apart from the conference at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel, this HDTV forum will discuss high-definition’s ongoing infiltration of the industry. Participants include Comcast Cable Senior VP Andy Addis, iN Demand Chief Operating Officer Rob Jacobson and Cox Communications VP and General Manager Steve Rizley.
Kickoff Session: 3:30-5 p.m.
A general discussion forum on the future of the industry with an assortment of panelists including Charter Communications Executive VP and Chief Operating Officer Maggie Belleville, Advance/Newhouse Communications Executive VP Nomi Bergman, E! Networks President & CEO Mindy Herman and Oxygen Media Chairman and CEO Geraldine Laybourne.
Wednesday, Dec. 3
Executive Decisions: 9-10:30 a.m.
An MSO executive smackdown. Speakers include executives from Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, Cablevision, Adelphia Communications and Comcast. Larry King is the referee.
Demanding It: Get Ready for EOD: 2:30-3:45 p.m.
Technologists, programmers and executives talk about the ongoing evolution of personalized viewing.
Cable Advertising Gets Connected: 4:15-5:45 p.m.
A panel of ad executives discusses interconnection. Speakers include Cox Communications VP Billy Farina and Comcast Advertising President Charlie Thurston.
Thursday, Dec. 4
Five-Year Plan: 9-10:30 a.m.
Industry executives deconstruct the future of broadband media. Participants include Insight Communications President and CEO Michael Willner, Advance/ Newhouse Communications Chairman and CEO Robert Miron and Mediacom Communications Corp. Chairman and CEO Rocco B. Commisso.
