‘Friends’ Finale Marks End of Marketing Tool

The cast members of “Friends” won’t be the only ones with tears in their eyes when the series comes to a close May 6-movie marketing executives will be crying as well. “Friends” has been a major marketing tool for film studios over the past decade, and movie ads have been a key revenue generator for NBC’s heavyweight Thursday 8 p.m. show.
