Among the thousands converging on Las Vegas this week for the International CES consumer electronics show, where there will be acres of gadgets and gizmos on display, will be Universal Remote Control of Harrison, N.Y., whose customers include everyone from Time Warner Cable and Cablevision to Zenith TV. Now it is introducing the ultimate remote control, a single wand that will not only control the TV, cable box, VCR, DVD, DVR, CD and satellite, it will take things to another level. These futuristic new devices, priced from $50 to $150, can also control heating systems, air conditioners, interior and exterior lights, ovens, toasters, coffee makers, security systems, window blinds and whatever else you can imagine. And for the techno-challenged, the company includes a how-to CD-ROM so even the most technologically illiterate can set up the remote.
