As the president of Fox Television Network who had recently added a new title-CEO of the Fox Networks Group-to his portfolio, Tony Vinciquerra spent much of 2003 integrating the Fox networks’ finances into a more streamlined operation. In the process, he found time to help launch an extreme sports cable network, Fuel; develop new channel concepts for DirecTV, which Fox was in the process of acquiring; push through the sale of the Fox-owned Los Angeles Dodgers; and generally, “deliver more money to Mr. [Rupert] Murdoch,” he said, “which is my main goal.” He also served as chairman of the National Association of Television Program Executives, helping to change the face and tone of the group’s annual conference and get the entire convention under one roof.
