Tribune Broadcasting has appointed John Vitanovec as group VP, giving him executive oversight responsibilities for additional stations in the company’s television group. He will report to Tribune Broadcasting President Patrick Mullen. Mr. Vitanovec will be responsible for Tribune stations in Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington, Atlanta, Grand Rapids, Mich., Harrisburg, Pa., and Albany, N.Y., plus the company’s two-station clusters in Indianapolis and Hartford, Conn. He also will oversee management of Superstation WGN as well as creative services operations for the full station group. Mr. Vitanovec was named regional VP in 2003, adding to his role as VP and general manager of WGN-TV, Chicago. From 1997 to 1999 Mr. Vitanovec was VP and director of operations for Tribune Broadcasting, where he oversaw various corporate functions and Tribune’s West Central WB station group. Before that he was VP and general manager of WLVI-TV, Boston. He joined Tribune in 1984.
