Dysfunctional Family Values

The domestic-train-wreck-as-reality-show has been done before with “The Osbournes” and “The Anna Nicole Show,” but a concept now being shopped to networks could make both shows seem positively “Brady Bunch” by comparison: Life with the Carters. No, not Jimmy and Amy, but pop stars Nick and Aaron-whose tragicomic Florida family is offering to reunite under one roof after years of infighting and brushes with the law. The show is called “The Carter Clan,” with Jeff Margolis attached as exec producer. Former Backstreet Boy and current Paris Hilton accessory Nick, 24, will appear but may not actually live in the house. Included in the family’s charming history:

November 2001: Sister Bobbie Jean “BJ” Carter, then 20, leads Florida police on a high-speed chase. January 2002: Nick is arrested for ignoring police orders during a disturbance at a nightclub. October 2002: BJ is arrested for punching a girl at a party. August 2003: Patriarch Robert is arrested for domestic battery against the singers’ mother, Jane. December 2003: Aaron accuses his mother/manager of stealing more than $100,000 from his bank account. January 2004: Jane is arrested for breaking into her estranged husband’s home, pulling his girlfriend out of bed and beating her.
