Comcast Spotlight and Comcast Cable teamed with Dallas lifestyle publication D magazine to create the “Best of Big D” partnership.
Each August, Dallas-area residents flock to their mailboxes and newsstands to get their copy of D’s “Best of Big D” issue honoring the best in food, wine, goods, services, family fun and more. But there was something different in last year’s honors.
Comcast Spotlight offered to produce a series of 10 30-second vignettes featuring some of the “best of” winners. The vignettes were hosted by Kellie Rasberry of the “Kidd Kraddick” radio show, a popular morning drive program in Dallas and 28 other syndicated markets.
Comcast then packaged the vignettes and offered them as the “Best of Big D” vignette sponsorship. This package was sold to Rodney Anderson with CTX Mortgage, a new client to Comcast Spotlight. In addition to the on-air exposure Rodney Anderson was included in a special four-page, full-color Comcast Systems ad that was inserted into D magazine for six months, from September 2003 to February 2004.
In exchange for the vignettes, Comcast and Comcast Spotlight received media sponsor exclusivity that included signage at the “Best of Big D” event, a one-page ad in the “Best of Big D” issue and a hyperlink ad on D magazine’s Web site home page for six months.
