Divney gets the last laugh

There were plenty of laughs when retiring Comedy Central President Larry Divney was roasted last week in Manhattan during a benefit for the UJA Federation of New York. He is pictured here with Court TV Chairman Henry Schleiff and comedian Jeffrey Ross, who acted as emcee. Other TV execs getting in on the fun included MTV Networks Chairman Tom Freston and adman Jon Mandel, along with a number of professional comedians. Blink has to blush because most of the jokes were unrepeatable. We can tell you that there was much discussion about Mr. Divney’s (and the execs’) mythic night lifestyles. “Is there anyone here who has actually negotiated with Larry outside a bar?” Mr. Mandel asked rhetorically. So frequently are Mr. Divney and Mr. Freston out and about together that “Tough Crowd” host Colin Quinn described them as “the middle-aged Paris and Nicky Hilton.”
