Christopher Plummer, right, will star in Showtime’s “Our Fathers.” Mr. Plummer will play Boston’s controversial Cardinal Bernard Law. The telefilm is based on Newsweek Editor David France’s book “Our Fathers: The Secret Life of the Catholic Church in an Age of Scandal.” Thomas Michael Donnelly will write the screenplay and Dan Curtis will direct and executive produce. … Andre Braugher is in negotiations to star in FX’s drama pilot “Thief.” The project is from writer-producer Norman Morrill. … Rocco DiSpirito has signed a deal with Endemol USA to develop and host an hour-long show. The project is targeted for syndication starting in fall 2005.
Oxygen Media has signed “Man Show” creator Stone Stanley Entertainment to a development deal. Stone Stanley, which also produces “The Joe Schmo Show” and “Celebrity Mole,” is developing a reality series for the Oxygen Network. … The Hatchery and Mattel Entertainment are teaming to produce a new half-hour prime-time game show titled “Balderdash.” The show is based on the Mattel board game. “Balderdash” is scheduled to premiere this summer on Pax.
Peter Bogdanovich will direct ESPN’s “Hustle.” The original movie is based on the findings of Major League Baseball’s Dowd Report, which chronicled the gambling life of Pete Rose. “Hustle” is set to premiere Sept. 25.
Dana Walden, co-president of 20th Century Fox Television studio, was named VP of the Hollywood Radio & Television Society. The HRTS is a nonprofit organization of West Coast media executives.
