Ullman Gets on ‘Mattress’

Emmy-winning actor Tracey Ullman has been added to the cast of the ABC musical remake of “Once Upon a Mattress.” Ms. Ullman will play Princess Winnifred, a role originated on the Off-Broadway stage by Carol Burnett. Ms. Burnett, who is executive producing “Mattress,” is playing the role of Queen Aggravain.

“Mattress” is scheduled to air during the 2004-05 season as part of ABC’s Sunday “Wonderful World of Disney” franchise. Marc Platt (“Legally Blonde,” “Legally Blonde 2,” Broadway’s “Wicked”) has been added as an executive producer, and Tony Award-winning choreographer Kathleen Marshall is making her directing debut. Janet Brownell (“Eloise at the Plaza”) wrote the teleplay, which is based on the original book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller and Martin Barer.
