Emmy Pre-Show Gets Friendly

Andy Friendly has signed on as executive producer of ABC’s “Countdown to the Emmys 2004.” The hour-long program will broadcast live from the red carpet at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and lead into the “56th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.” “Countdown” airs from 7-8 p.m. (ET) Sunday, Sept.19.

Mr. Friendly was the executive producer of all of CNBC’s prime-time shows from 1990-95, including shows for Tom Snyder, Geraldo Rivera and Tim Russert. He also served as president of programming and production for King World.

“Countdown” is being produced by Andy Friendly Productions, which also produces ABC’s “Life of Luxury” specials starring George Hamilton. The pre-show has yet to name its red carpet hosts.
