Food Network will air a tribute to the late chef Julia Child next week, the network announced Friday. Ms. Child died early Friday morning of kidney failure at the age of 91. The one-hour tribute will tell her life story and use clips from her various television appearances. A Food Network spokesperson said the tribute was already in production when Ms. Child passed away.

“Julia Child was a unique figure in both food and television history,” said Brooke Johnson, president of the Food Network. Her culinary skill, charismatic personality and endless enthusiasm for all things food changed the way Americans approached cooking and is directly responsible for the vibrancy and imagination of American cooking today. Food Network sends our sympathies to her family, friends and admirers.”
